Gaza Fundraising Mezze Event

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our fundraising event!!! As a result of your overwhelming support and generosity, we raised over £5,300!!!

This is an absolutely incredible amount, and we cannot thank you enough. We would also like to say a thank you to our customers who have been donating since we started this campaign. Your support means the world to us and to the people it helps in Gaza.

To everyone who came along to the last one in December, we raised over £4,500 - which provided a full nutritious meal to over 300 families (that's over 2500 people) sheltering at the Al Dora camp.

We thank you all for your continued support, you can be sure it is very much appreciated!

A little bit of background as to why we are doing this...

The Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza

As we are sure you are aware, there is an astronomical humanitarian crisis in Gaza at present. Whilst we all may have our own political views, our aim is to help those in desperate need of clean water, food, shelter, medicine - the list could go on.

You may or may not be aware that Samir our head chef is Palestinian, and has family in Gaza. His family are not without loss, however those who have survived so far are in a desperate situation, as is every single Gazan.

Samir's sister, Samira, has run a charity in Gaza for many years. Follow them on Facebook at

https://www.facebook.com/amjaad2016

In addition to her own families needs, she is coordinating the distribution of around 400 meals a day. This is life saving in an area where resources are scarce. Unfortunately, do to the lack of resources left in Gaza, and only a drop in the ocean of aid coming through, the prices of everything have gone up hugely; for example, a sachet of yeast is now £10, compared to before where it was £1.20. Depending on the products available, the cost of providing these meals varies from £200-£500/day.

Due to where she has taken refuge in the South of Gaza, she is able to provide meals for the medical staff at one of the only remaining hospitals: Nasser Hospital, and those who would otherwise go without food. The people who find themselves in this heart-breaking reality have lost some, most or entire families; houses, friends, businesses - everything that they had worked their life towards gone in the blink of an eye. This includes young orphans, who have witnessed the deaths of their parents, brothers and sisters.

One thing I would like to say on a personal level, is that it is heart-warming to see the resilience of the communities in Gaza, the unconditional help they will give to anyone in need. That has given me faith that there is humanity left in this world.

There are many charities out there who you could donate to, however we can assure you that 100% of your donations will go straight towards the cost of providing these meals on the ground with immediate effect. Our aim is to provide as much support as possible in financing the cost of these meals, and any donation - whatever the size - will help greatly.

We would like to say thank you to everyone for taking the time to read this, and if you would like to donate let us know.
